About | Naman Shah

The name Topnaman is a play on Top Ramen, the popular instant noodles brand which forms a staple part of the diet of graduate students, bootstrap entrepreneurs, and starving artists – in general young people who have little time or money to spare. I use the name to recognize these future pioneers of greater things. Ironically, as a vegetarian I’ve actually never eaten any Top Ramen, Maggi happens to be my favorite microwave food.

I love public health. Having spent much of my life in developing countries, I’m sensitive to the ebbs and flows of their policies and progress. Public health is my chosen vehicle for participating in these dialogues and decisions which communities must undertake. Consequently, I’m training as a physician and infectious disease epidemiologist through the MD/PhD program at the University of North Carolina.
